Obituary

Beloved brother and friend passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home. Age 63 years. The son of the late Joseph J. and Gloria A. (Adrian) Jersevic, Val was born October 22, 1957 in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in 1975 and from Michigan State University in 1980. He was employed as a bartender at numerous venues and taverns in the area. Val was very active in electronics and will be remembered for his inventions and expertise in repair. He was of the Catholic faith. New Year’s Eve was always special to Val as he annually traveled to Times Square in New York to celebrate the New Year, often seen in the shadows of Dick Clark. Val never missed a single Douglas MacArthur/Heritage High School Football Game since 1971, home and away, until 2020. Val was an avid University of Michigan fan and loved tailgating and football.

Surviving are one brother, Roland Jersevic, Saginaw; several cousins and many dear friends.

Funeral Service will take place 5:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at St. Dominic Parish-St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw in Saginaw. Deacon Steven Morello will officiate with private burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Heritage Athletic Association.

Val was a great guy. Loved hearing his views on the Wolverines, myself being a Sparty, made it even better. He loved traveling to NYC & Florida. Very knowledgeable about many things. I will always remember the times when he bartended/bounce/ doorman at O’Hare’s. He will truly be missed.
