My cousin, Paul, was very close in age to my 2 older sisters and lived 2 doors from us when we were all young. We always had laughs when recounting some of our rascalian exploits. My favorite is the time he and my sister, Sally, who was exactly 1 week younger than Paul and in the same 1st grade classroom at St. James in Bay City decided to play Cowboys and Indians when they found a bottle of iodine and proceeded to apply it on their faces and arms in great detail as war paint (too many cowboy and Indian movies in that era). Well, of course it was going to remain on their skin for a few days and when they went to school they were in deep trouble! Sister Mary Louis was NOT amused! I was 3 years younger and I remember him chasing us girls through the house beating his chest and growling like King Kong (another old movie). And then the time they skipped the Sunday children's Mass and went to a small neighborhood Jewish store ( they were open on Sundays) and spent the pennies meant for their Mass offerings on candy. Another Monday morning stern reprimand followed by weekly confession. I know many will miss him and just wanted to share an old memory. May he rest in peace with those who awaiting him in Heaven.
