Obituary

Dorothy Leona Alfano

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away peacefully Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Shields Comfort Care. Age 86 years. Dorothy was born April 16, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Daubert-Scholesser) Reisig. Dorothy was married to Nicholas J. Alfano, the love of her life, for 64 years. He predeceased her on July 15, 2019. She was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone for years and she also served as a lunch aide at Merrill Park Elementary School. Dorothy was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking walks and socializing with her neighbors. Dorothy also enjoyed playing Michigan Rummy at family gatherings; ultimately, she loved to spend quality time with her family and friends. All those who knew Dorothy knew how kind she was; her pleasant personality and warm smile were enjoyed by all.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, John (Connie) Alfano, Terri (Richard) Pfeuffer, Patricia (Randall) Dexter and Michael Alfano; her seven grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, and Breanna Alfano, Ryan (Crystal) Pfeuffer, Erica (Scott) Ostrom, David (Natasha) Alfano and Christopher Alfano, her five great-grandchildren, Parker and Rylee Pfeuffer, Logan and Alyssa Ostrom and Everly Alfano. Sisters-in-law, Delores Reisig and Betty Reisig. Brothers–in-law, Pete Alfano, Jack (Beverly) Alfano and Joseph (Sherry) Alfano; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Jacob Reisig and Elmer Reisig; sisters-in-law Amelia Ehrhardt and Rosemary Alfano.

Dorothy’s memorial service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Snow Funeral Home. Pastor James Krueger will officiate with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are welcome to visit at Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty) on Thursday, March 18th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Alzheimer’s Association or St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Sorry to here about the passsing of your mother Dorthoy. We lived next to the Alfano family on Wood Street for many years. I remember her wonderful smile. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May Dorothy rest in peace and be raised up in glory.
