Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. Age 81 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Enrica (Menapace) McGrandy, Virginia was born on November 21, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married William “Bill” Baase on February 6, 1960. He predeceased her on February 19, 2020. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the casino with her sisters. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Parish.
Surviving are three daughters, Tamara Baase, Thomas Township; Pamela (Sean) Vaughan, Birmingham; Cynthia (Paul) Berg, Bay City; six grandchildren, Kaelin, Jacob (Laura), Nicholas, Adam, Chloe and Isabella; one great-granddaughter, Remi Lou; one brother and two sisters, Joseph McGrandy, Beverly O’Dette and Rose (George) Stimac; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sally McGrandy and Paul Cancelli; many nephews and nieces, especially, Lisa Cancelli. Virginia was preceded in death by her siblings, Maureen Schneider, Alvin McGrandy and Sharon Cancelli.
A private Funeral Liturgy will take place at St. Francis de Sales-St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson Road in Saginaw. Honoring Mrs. Baase’s wishes, cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis de Sales Parish. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
