Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Samaritas Senior Living in Saginaw. Age 81 years. The daughter of the late Phillip and Jenny (Alfano) Saponieri, Theresa was born on January 7, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Douglas J. MacDonald, her loving husband of almost 61 years, on November 11, 1961. He survives her. Theresa was a graduate of St. Andrew High School. Theresa and Doug were long time members of St. Andrew Catholic Church and current member of Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Theresa was a lifelong seamstress and owned and operated Theresa’s Draperies. During her younger years, she enjoyed making clothing for her children and herself. She enjoyed going to the ca$ino, playing bingo, doing puzzle books and monthly luncheons with her classmates. Theresa was deeply devoted to the care and wellbeing of her family, especially her mother and brother Bill.


Surviving besides her husband Douglas are five children, Connie MacDonald, Saginaw; Steve (Maureen) MacDonald, Grand Rapids, Cathleen (Jim) Lehman, Saginaw; Tom (Dana) MacDonald, Saginaw; Stu MacDonald, Saginaw; nine grandchildren, Douglas, Jeff, Kaley, Benjamin, Andrew, Victor, Alice, Caitlin and Britney; her sister, Connie Rudnik. Theresa was preceded in death by her grandson, Stephen; two siblings, Millie Graves and Bill Damore.


Honoring Mrs. MacDonald’s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2445. N. Charles St. Rev. Fr. Richard John will officiate. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Eastside Soup Kitchen or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
