Obituary for Theodore "Ted" Nalazek

Beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home. Age 78 years. The son of the late William and Margaret (Bednarek) Nalazek, Ted was born on February 28, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Michelle Singer, on May 22, 1965. She predeceased him on May 23, 2019. After high school, Ted spent his entire career, 40 plus years, in the automotive industry primarily as a Pattern Maker for General Motors. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Ted’s whole life was focused around spending time with his family. All of his hobbies, going to drag races, air shows, building model cars, artwork, were spent with his children and grandchildren. He also liked to watch, football and was a “couch coach” for the Redwings. Ted had a love for monitoring the weather, meteorology and watching the Weather Channel.


Surviving are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Kevin Nalazek and his fiancée Debbie DeWolf, Saginaw; Chris Nalazek and Heather Baade-Nalazek, Saginaw; Teressa and Daniel Meldrum, Saginaw; five cherished grandchildren, Kazmira, Sevrin, Sakarah, Chelsea and Nicholas; one sister, Mary (Paul) Jezowski, Bay City; many nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Jake (Lois) Nalazek.


Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Honoring Mr. Nalazek’s wishes cremation will follow. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw Children’s Zoo, a special place to the Nalazek Family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
