Obituary for Susan K. "Sue" Newman

Newman, Susan K. “Sue”
Saginaw, Michigan

Our loving wife, mother, gamm, sister, and aunt, Susan K. “Sue” (Froehlich) Newman, passed away suddenly in the morning hours of Friday, March 24, 2023 at her residence in Saginaw Township, Michigan. Age 72 years. Sue was born on February 6, 1951 in Tacoma, Washington to the late Virginia A. (Hawke) Stokes. In her youth she moved to Michigan and was raised in Bay City and Saginaw. She was a 1969 graduate of Saginaw High School. Following high school she furthered her education by attending Delta College, where she would receive her LPN, and later went to Davenport University to receive her RN. On October 7, 1972 inside of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Sue married the love of her life, Joseph Todd Newman, and he survives her. After 31 years of service as a Registered Nurse with Covenant HealthCare, Sue retired in 2015 from the Emergency Room. After retirement, Sue worked a few years for Heartland Home Care as a Visiting Nurse. Sue loved adventure and traveling; from trips up north with her husband to visiting every zoo on the eastern seaboard with her daughter. She enjoyed Coca-Cola, television, and animals. Sue’s favorite holiday was always Christmas; having everyone over Christmas Eve brought her an abundance of joy. Not quite as much as online shopping. With Sue’s many interests in life; nothing brought her more happiness than her family, especially her grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and #1 fan at all their events; from dance recitals to baseball fields. Gamm was always there supporting them and giving them whatever they wanted; especially after their parents said no. Sue will be missed dearly by all family and friends.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of almost 51 years, Joseph Todd Newman; three children, Justin Newman, Nichole “Scooch” (Dean) Moore, and Bryan Newman; forever daughter-in-law, Ruthe Newman; grandchildren, Caleb Kuch, Jayden Newman, Marli Newman, Jase Moore; step-sister, Laura Ruggles; mother-in-law, Rosemary Newman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mark (Dorene) Newman, Jim (Lisa) Newman, Sue Sajdak, Kim (Bill) Vance, and Lynne (Todd) Perry; life-long friends, Ruth Ellen Singer, Lori Lagalo Greg and Donna Goodyear; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Sue is happily reunited with her mother, Virginia A. (Hawke) Stokes; step-brothers, Bob Jr. and Rodney Stokes; father-in-law, Harold “Red” Newman; brother-in-law, Robert Sajdak; and niece, Kelly Adams.
