Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed peacefully into the arms of her savior on Friday, January 8, 2021 at her home. Age 85 years. The daughter of the late John LaLonde and Trafton (stepfather) and Florence (O’Sullivan) LaFleur. Sue was born on January 17, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. On May 21, 1955 she married Henry Norman Fjerstad, her loving husband of 65 years. Sue was a member of Saginaw First Assembly of God church for over 35 years where she volunteered as a greeter and was a part of the prayer ministry. Her faith in God was paramount in her life and her selflessness and generosity will always be remembered. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending countless summers at the family cottage on Wixom Lake, but her greatest joys in life were that of being a wife and mother.


Surviving Sue are her husband Norman and her children, Michael Allen (Laurie) Fjerstad, Robert Neal (Kathy) Fjerstad, Gena Leigh (Jim) McGillis; seven grandchildren; Sarah, Emily, Joshua, Brandon, James, Megan and Bob; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Peyton, Harleigh and many loving nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her son, Mark Norman Fjerstad on January 1, 2021 and her sister, Jacqueline Marshall.


Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Private interment will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. In accordance with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Teen Challenge of Saginaw and Make-A-Wish Michigan.
