Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Age 88 years. Daughter of the late Samuel and Florence (Owen) Bearden, Shirley was born January 7, 1934 in Gladwin, Michigan. She was married to Floyd E. Schramke on November 11, 1960. He predeceased her November 9, 2003. Shirley was a member of the Catholic Faith. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, reading, playing cards, hanging with the family, her neighbors and watching the Detroit Tigers.
Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons and three daughters, Barry Shafer, Hemlock; Michael Schramke, Hale; Diane and Richard Leonard, Stanton; Patricia and Paul Allen, Lansing; Tracy and Shauna Schramke, Urbana, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, Brian, Jennifer, Amy, Troy, Lori, Heather, Nathan, Shannon, Douglas, John, Krystal, Mark and Tad; over 40 great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two lifelong friends, Carol Beck and Carol McKenzie. Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Chris and Mark Shafer; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Shafer; many brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank Promedica Hospice for the loving care given to Shirley and her family.
Funeral Service will take place 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor William Schaard will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
