Sally Jo Schafsnitz,
Saginaw, Michigan.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 surrounded by her family. Age 78 years. Daughter of the late William and Angeline (Malinoski) Vesterfelt, Sally was born January 22, 1945 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Gary A. Schafsnitz, her loving husband of 56years, on October 22, 1966. He survives her. Sally was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. Sally enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, flowers and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and her cats.

Surviving besides her husband Gary are three sons, Scott and Jessica Schafsniz, Davison; Jason and Sue Schafsnitz, Saginaw; Chad and Cheryl Schafsnitz, Frankenmuth; seven grandchildren, McKayla and Tyler Reid, Jayden, Emma, Mason, Tyler, Nathan and Cameron Schafsnitz; one brother and two sisters, Bill and Linda Vesterfelt, Burt; Janet Martin, Saginaw; a brother-in-law, Bill Breiske, Saginaw; two sisters-in-law, Judy Walters, Midland; Mary Jo Engelhardt, Bridgeport; several nieces and nephews. Sally was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Breiske; and two brothers-in-law, Harvey Walters and Ernie Engelhardt.

Honoring Mrs. Schafsnitzā€™s wishes cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish-St. Anthony of Padau Catholic Church, 3680 S. Washington, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Alberto Vargas will officiate. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
