Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Age 80 years. The son of the late Walter and Rosemary (Herhalt) Gorney, Ronald was born March 10, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a 1959 Graduate of Holy Rosary High School. He married Margaret A. Chmielewski, his loving wife of 57 years, on October 12, 1963. She survives him. Ron was a machine repairman at Saginaw Steering Gear Plant #5, retiring after over 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4232. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially his family.

Surviving besides his wife Marge are three sons, Ron Gorney Jr., Traverse City; Mike and Kirstin Gorney, Traverse City; Steve and Jennifer Gorney, Saginaw; three grandchildren Ryan Bischer and Sarah Hoy, Houghton; Alyssa and Neil Hecht, Millington; Aubree Bischer, Saginaw; three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kyle and Isaac Hecht; three sister and three brothers, Rosalie Peruchietti, Saginaw; Bob and Arlene Gorney, Hemlock; Butch and Cindy Gorney, Lupton; Patrick Gorney, Waterford; Cheryl and Bill Newsham, Bay City; Mary Ann Cooper, Gladwin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and JoAnn Heinlein, Saginaw; Tony Chmielewski and Nancy Brigham, Saginaw; many nieces, nephews great-nieces and great nephews; many special friends especially, Joe and Phyllis Karas, Tom and Jeanne Przybylski, Ken and Carol Grembowski, all of Saginaw. Ron was preceded in death by his precious grandson, Brenden Gorney; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony and Mary Chmielewski; two brothers-in-law, Bill Cooper and Eugene Peruchietti; and by a special uncle and aunt, Abe and Cioci Aggie Chmielewski.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Honoring Mr. Gorney’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.

So sorry Marge and the family for Ron's passing. So many memories from so many events from high school and social activities until the end. I remember him as being probably the fastest afoot football player to play the game. Small in physical build and probably only gained 10 pounds since graduation. Ron was quiet but you knew that he was present. Ron led a good life and enjoyed his entire family. We will miss you my friend.
