Obituary for Robert O. Jason

Robert O. Jason,
Bridgeport, Michigan
Formerly of Key West, Florida, and Lebanon, New Hampshire.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Ascension Mary’s Hospital after a two year battle with cancer. Age 66 years .Son of the late Robert G. and Audrey (Olson) Jason, Robert was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on May 12, 1955. Bob married Julie Kostick on October 31, 2018 in Key West, Florida where they resided together for 11 years before moving to Michigan. She survives him. Bob’s forty year long career in law enforcement and public service began in the US Army as an MP. He later joined the Lebanon, New Hampshire Police Department. He was instrumental in establishing their first canine unit with his canine partner, King. He eventually retired as a Lieutenant Detective after twenty years of distinguished service. At that retirement, Bob went down to the islands to escape the New England cold. That’s where he found the next chapter of his career. Bob joined the US Marshal Service with whom he proudly served as a Special Deputy US Marshal. This second half of his law enforcement career began in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands in the year 2000. It took him to West Virginia, Miami and Key West, Florida where he served as the Lead Court Security Officer. He then accepted a transfer to Michigan as part of a long range retirement plan with Julie and worked in both the Flint and Bay City, Michigan Federal Court Houses. He retired from the US Marshal Service due to health concerns in October 2021. His hobbies included wood working, metal working, and his GI Joe and WWII collections. He was a master model customizer of 1:6 scale WWII vehicles. Although he had built and rebuilt it a 100 times in his head, his dream of building a custom 1940 Ford pickup just ran out of time.

Surviving besides his wife Julie are his son, Mathew Robert Jason (Sherri Lynch), Leominster, Massachusetts; a daughter, Megan Brittany (Jeremy) Pardoe, Hartland, Vermont; three grandchildren, Taylor Jason, Brayden Jason and Riley Pardoe; three sisters, Barbara (Paul) Kieschnick, Georgetown, Texas; Carol Catino, Webster, Massachusetts; Tammy (Rob) Roy, East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Bennett and Debbie Blake.

Honoring Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, Massachusetts 01540. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the United States Police Canine Association.
