1926-2022 Robert (Bob) L. Pieschke, Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 7, 2022 at New Hope Valley Assisted Living, Saginaw, MI. Age 95 years. Son of the late Walter G. and Mathilda (Agricola) Pieschke, Bob was born November 12, 1926 in Detroit Michigan, the fourth of five children. He served his country in World War II, and on return attended Taylor University where he met and married Virginia (Ginnie) Eleanor Veenstra, who preceded him in death in 2009. Later that year, he married Lorraine (Lori) Kareus Cooke, longtime family friend, who preceded him in death just one month before his passing.
Bob left the family plumbing business, moving to Saginaw to work for his uncles at Saginaw Bearing Company. Working hard, he later became the president and owner. He also started development projects- Allenhurst Commons in Saginaw Township, Bayview Farms, and an industrial park where he moved Saginaw Bearing Company, both in Kochville Township. As one of the earliest members of Hopevale Church, he faithfully attended and served for many years in Sunday School classes, on boards, and sang in the choir. In later years, Bob and Lori spearheaded the beginning of the "Young at Hearts" ministry where they actively served. Golf, music, and painting were his hobbies. Bob loved being on the golf course with buddies on Saturdays, and was a fierce competitor. Sunday afternoons often found him by Ginnie's side listening to her play her grand piano, and singing along. His beautiful oil paintings fill the homes of all of his children and grandchildren. His generosity was only surpassed by his enthusiasm for all he did in life.
Family was Bob’s greatest treasure. He is survived by his daughters Nancy (Curt) Olson, Luanne (Randy) Ford, and son Robert (Ann Marie) Pieschke Jr; ten grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Lewis, Carlie (Jeremy) Culver, Lindsay (Joe) Heinzelmann, Jessica (Marc) Beaudin, Scott (Jennifer) Unger, Steve (Ashley) Unger, Stacie (Marcus) McMahon, Robert (Angie) Pieschke III, Andrew (Courtney) Pieschke, Kevin (Allie) Pieschke; seventeen great- grandchildren, with one more on the way; brother Walter (Maxine) Pieschke, sister Carol (Merrill) Parsons, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Lorraine's children Patty, Jay, Beth, Lee, Kim, Marc, and their families. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Marion (Vern) Larson and brother, Bill (Lou) Pieschke.
Honoring Mr. Pieschke's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Hopevale Church, 4873 N. Center Rd, Saginaw. Pastor Dan Davis will officiate. Visitation will take place at the church, where the family will be present from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
