Obituary for Richard "Tom" Boyd

Richard “Tom” Boyd,

Saginaw Twp., Michigan.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Monday, April 12, 2021 at Edgewood Assisted Living. Age 85 years. Son of the late Leo and Mary (Nalevyko) Boyd, Richard was born November 24, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a 1959 graduate of Hillsdale College on an athletic scholarship. He married Marilyn M. Davison, his loving wife of 60 years, on January 30, 1960. She survives him. Tom was a seventh grade math teacher at Chippewa Middle School in Saginaw Township for 35 years. He was a football coach at the former Douglas MacArthur High School for many years. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Tom enjoyed winters in Florida, summers in his summer home in Tawas with his family, fishing and was an avid golfer.

Surviving besides his wife Marilyn are three sons, Craig Boyd and Kim Gilman, Bridgeport; Tom and Sharon Boyd, Saginaw; Brian and Michelle Boyd, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Ashley and Jeffery Fletcher, Milan; Lindsey Boyd, Essexville; Caitlyn Boyd, Saginaw; Hannah Boyd, Saginaw; Nicholas Boyd, Saginaw; Elizabeth Boyd, Saginaw; two great grandchildren, Boyd and Edith Fletcher; one sister, Jackie Leppek, Traverse City; three brothers, Leo “Smokey” and Betty Boyd, Bay City; Jerry Boyd, Grand Rapids; Patrick and Judy Boyd, Mt. Pleasant; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks for the care given by the staff at Edgewood Assisted Living and Cardinal Hospice.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will take place at a later date.
