Richard “Dick” Prezzato,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle joined his loving wife in Heaven on Monday September 13, 2021. Age 86 years. Son of the late Phillip and Dorothy (Jones) Prezzato, Richard was born May 5, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. He enlisted at the age of 17 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps as a medic during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. He married Janice “Nina” Ignash, his wife and best friend of 56 years, on September 7, 1963. She predeceased him December 14, 2019. Dick was employed by Chrysler Missile from 1956 to 1960, St. Luke’s Hospital from 1960 to 1964 as a surgical technician and was a supervisor at G.M. Grey Iron from 1964 retiring in 1992. Dick and Nina raised their family in Hemlock, Michigan, where they were devoted members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for 43 years. After relocating to Saginaw in 2015, they became members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Dick was proud of his Italian heritage and loved all things associated with it, especially food. He loved listening to music, sitting on the patio in the sunshine and spending time with his family and friends. The true joys of his life were his grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Surviving to cherish his memory are one son and two daughters and their spouse, Michael and Wendy Prezzato, Boyne City, Michigan; Christine and Greg Stroud, San Antonio, Texas; Stacey and Jonathan Benemann, Saginaw; six grandchildren, Emily Prezzato and her husband Bryce Reddick, Nicholas Prezzato, Alexandra Stroud, Taylor Stroud, Hannah Benemann and Evan Benemann; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Prezzato.
Honoring Mr. Prezzato’s wishes cremation has taken place. The Committal Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Hemlock, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Kevin Wojciechowski will officiate. Military Services will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1859 and the U.S. Navy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Thomas Aquinas or the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center.
