Obituary for Patrick William Giltrop

Patrick William Giltrop,
Birch Run, Michigan.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully Friday, September 23, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Age 85 years. Son of the late William and Anna (Steinke) Giltrop, Patrick was born September 26, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. Patrick married Helen A. Grzegorczyk, his loving wife of 53 years, on May 10, 1969. She survives him. Patrick was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear as a job setter retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of SS. Francis and Clare Parish. Pat enjoyed gardening, wine making and hunting.

Surviving besides his wife Helen are two sons and one daughter, Steven Giltrop, Saginaw; Tricia and Michael Holihan, Birch Run; Robert and Wendy Giltrop, Burt; five grandchildren, Katelyn (Kyle) Sweeney, Haley (Derrick) Bocek, Megan Holihan, Zackary Giltrop and his fiancée, Lauren , Alli Holihan; five adorable great-grandchildren, Harper, Jaxson, Everly, Weston and Livvy; three sisters, Myrtle Spensberger, Helen Scheffler and Delores McDonald ; sisters-in-law, Sally McGrandy, Nancy Giltrop, Paula Giltrop; many nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Agnes (Howard) Stephens, George (Lillian) Giltrop, Henry (Josephne) Giltrop, Catherine (Clarence) Ruggles, Michael Giltrop, John Giltrop; brothers-in-law, Alvin McGrandy, George Spensberger, Walter, Scheffler and Richard McDonald.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 27, 2022 at SS. Francis and Clare Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 12157 Church St. , Birch Run, Michigan. Rev. Fr. David J. Jenuwine will officiate. Burial will take place in Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Bridgeport with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
