Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper Campus. Age 86 years, Daughter of the late Elwood and Marvel (Rivet) Metiva, Mary was born June 23, 1934 in Carrollton, Michigan. She was an inspector at Mallable Iron for 34 years retiring in 1984. Mary was a member of St. Mathew Catholic Church in Zilwaukee and its funeral luncheon committee. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving to cherish her memory are four sons, Rick and Cheryl Metiva, Comstock Park; Terry and Mary Kay Metiva, Saginaw; Dave and Stacy Metiva, Zilwaukee; Mark Metiva, Zilwaukee; nine grandchildren, Jeremy and Michelle Metiva, Sarah and Dennis Bertoia, Jim Metiva, John Metiva, Megan and Angelo Borrero, Justin Metiva, Justin and Mary Boyce, Janelle and Bryan Reardon, Allison and Jerry Landskroener; twelve great-grandchildren; her brother, Edwin and Carol Metiva, Zilwaukee; many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Elwood and Marlene Metiva Jr.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at St. John Paul II Parish, 469 Shattuck Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. William Rutkowski will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to VNA Hospice.
