Obituary for Mary Ann (Kanaly) Burr

Burr, Mary Ann (Kanaly)
Saginaw Township, Michigan

Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, Mary Ann (Kanaly) Burr, passed away suddenly in the afternoon hours of Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Age 57 years. Mary was born on May 10, 1966 in Saginaw, Michigan to her loving mother, Helen (Hamather) Kanaly, and late father, James Kanaly. She was a 1984 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School. During and after high school Mary worked diligently to receive her Coding Certification. For over 25 years Mary worked as Professional Coder for Covenant HealthCare. In 1986, on St. Patrick’s Day, Mary met the absolute love of her life, Michael L. Burr, and he survives her. She married Michael inside of Holy Spirit Catholic Church on May 16, 1992. Mary was known to be an avid bird watcher; up north or at home, Mary was always keeping a close eye on their peacefulness. Her squirrels would always tap on the window to let her know when they were in need of more food. Mary had a knack for architectural design; designing and building her dream home in Northern Michigan was something she was especially proud of. Mary was a lover of all creatures big or small; she leaves behind her beloved rescue pup, Sophie. With her many joys in life, nothing brought her more happiness than the time she was able to spend with her family; especially her children. She was very involved in their lives, and will continue to show love and support from above.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of nearly 31 years, Michael L. Burr; three adored children, Jacob, Jenna, and Breanne Burr; mother, Helen Kanaly; sister, Sarah Kanaly; brother, James “Jimmy” Kanaly; mother-in-law, Carol Burr; two sisters-in-law, Katrina Hart and Kathleen (David) Abbs; four nephews, Nicholas Hart, Jonathon Hart, Stephen Hart, and Cullen Abbs; uncle, Mac Hamather; cousins, Mary Beth LeFever, David Hamather, and Peter Hamather; fur-baby, Sophie; special lifelong friend, Julie Boensch; and several cousins and friends. Mary is happily reunited with her father, James Kanaly; father-in-law, Gerald Burr; and fur-babies, Zachary and Vinney.

At the request of Mary and her family, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. Saginaw, Michigan 4803. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Adam Maher. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to the “Wishes of the Family”, in care of Michael L. Burr. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, www.snowfuneralhome.net
