Obituary for Marva Jean Gilson

Marva Jean Gilson,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother went to be with The Lord Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Close to Home Assisted Living in Saginaw. Age 97 years. Daughter of the late Ellis and Lillian (Thomas) Terry, Marva Jean was born September 30, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Ernest Wolfgram. She then married William Gilson Jr. on January 1, 1976. He predeceased her March 13, 2021. Marva Jean was a real estate broker and owner and operator of Wolfgram Reality for 35 years. She was a past member of the Board of Realtors. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Marva Jean enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, traveling and especially spending time with her family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters, Joyce Quackenbush, Saginaw; Shirley Leach, Saginaw; one step-daughter, Kathi (William) Fortier, St. Charles; four grandchildren, Ralph and Jennifer Leach, Bay City; John and Julie Leach, Frankenmuth; Michael Leach, Haslett; Thomas and Tanya Quackenbush, Saginaw; 12 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Mitchel (Elizabeth), Clare (Landon) , Grant (Mason) , Jason, Sarah, Kate, Elizabeth (Bennett), Katherine ( Taylor), Emily, Jack and Spencer ; five great-great-grandchildren, Levi, Shephard, Sower, Harvey and Tate; two step-grandchildren, William (Kelly) Fortier and Wayne Fortier; many nieces and nephews. Marva Jean was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ralph Leach; one step-son, Steven Gilson; three brothers, Forrest, Beverly and Ralph Terry.

Honoring Mrs. Gilson’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Don O’Brien will officiate. A private committal of cremains will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at the funeral home, where the family will be present on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Care Line Hospice.
