Obituary for Martin David Garchow

Martin David Garchow,
Saginaw, Michigan.

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Age 72 years. Son of the late Edward and Gladys (Delorme) Garchow, Martin was born April 4, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was very patriotic, loved his country and served in the Army National Guard and the U.S. Coast Guard. Marty married Patricia D. Egerer, his loving wife of 52 years, on May 9, 1970. She survives him. Together they raised two children, Tamara and Brett. Marty was employed at General Motors for 35 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was an arson investigator at the Carrollton Twp. Fire Department. Marty enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating at his cabin at Sage Lake. He was proud of his 80 acres of hunting property which was purchased as a legacy for his children and grandchildren. Marty especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving besides his wife Patricia are one daughter, Tamara and Kevin Keysor, and their children, Tessa and Andrew, Saginaw; one son, Brett and Tabitha Garchow, and their children, Hunter and Logan, Bridgeport; his father-in-law, Robert Egerer, Saginaw; sisters -in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene Garchow, Franklin, North Carolina; Barbara and Robin Corson, Cincinnati, Ohio; Sandra and Terry Bebertz, St. Paul, Minnesota; Mike Egerer, Lapeer, Michigan; several nieces nephews. Marty was predeceased by his sister, Linda Garchow and two brothers, Edward and Steve Garchow.

Funeral Service will take place 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss, Saginaw, Michigan. Pastor Michael R. Korte will officiate. Burial will take place in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery with Military Services conducted by the Army National Guard. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. The Carrollton Twp. Fire Department will have a fireman walkthrough at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or American Lung Association.
