Obituary for Louis Leo Rapin

Louis Leo Rapin,
Saginaw, Michigan.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Stonecrest Assisted Living in Freeland, Michigan. Age 91 years. Son of the late Charles A. and Eva (Borey) Rapin, Louis was born August 6, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Genevieve Bartos, his loving wife of 62 years, on April 11, 1959 in Midland, Michigan. She survives him. Louis was a Real Estate Broker for 30 years. In 1977 he served as President of the Board of Realtors. Later he entered the specialty advertising business with Shaw-Barton retiring in 1997 where he then started Aarin Promotions until 2017. Louis was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and served on the Diocesan Committees for 17 years. He enjoyed cooking especially his special spaghetti and meat balls.

Surviving besides his wife Jean are two daughters and one son, Beth and Brad Witek, Freeland; Raymond Rapin, Freeland; Mary Rapin Laures, Linwood; nine grandchildren, Amber and Brent French, Midland; Samantha and Brandon Arends, Saginaw; Lauren, Nathan and Zachary Laures, Linwood; Shannon and Kevin Cauchi, Midland; Melissa Butler, Freeland; Tonya Witek, Bay City; Kelsie and Patrick Peters, Acworth, Georgia; 16 great-grandchildren, Devin, Joe, Jordan, Dylan, Kaylee, Hannah, Jenna, Trinity, Logan, Parker, Bennett, Evelyn, Davis, Jack, Jozie and Oakley; one sister, Joan Voise, Traverse City; many nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by four sisters, Sister Mary Judith RSM, Lenore Strohmer, Mary Davis and Alice Doerr; and four brothers, Bernard, Gerald, Albert and Charles Rapin.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Robert Gohm will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Right to Life of Michigan or St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
