Obituary for Lorraine S. (Ansorge) Claus

Claus, Lorraine S. (Ansorge)
Kochville Township, Michigan

Our loving, generous, honest, and hardworking mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Lorraine S. (Ansorge) Claus passed away peacefully with her family by her side in the evening hours of Friday, June 24, 2022 at her residence in Kochville Township, Michigan. Age 101 years. Lorraine was born on May 18, 1921 in Traverse City, Michigan to the late William and Sophia (Kubesh) Ansorge. Beginning in the mid 1940’s Lorraine and her husband, Edward Rieffel, owned and operated Dial Tent and Awning Co.; to this day the business is still owned operated by her family. Over the decades, it amazed Lorraine to see the changes in business. From the small projects they began with, to the large projects and abundance of tent rentals performed state wide. Lorraine loved reading, word games, and gardening. She adored nature; later in life she loved sitting on her front porch admiring the birds and the peacefulness. Lorraine had numerous joys throughout her lifetime, but her whole world always revolved around her family. Lorraine’s words of advice to others was to “always be kind”. She will be missed dearly by all, and her memories cherished forever.

Left to cherish her memories are her four children, Barbara Rieffel, Rita (Dennis) Polak, William Rieffel, and Mark Rieffel; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine is happily reunited with her daughter, Lorraine “Audrey” Strudgeon; three husbands she outlived, Edward Rieffel, Robert Beets, and Henry Claus; parents, William and Sophia (Kubesh) Ansorge; and brother, Raymond Ansorge.
