Beloved mother, sister and friend passed away following a short illness on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper Campus. Age 58 years. The daughter of the late Walter and Verna (McFate) Hammerbacher, Lori was born on July 4, 1962 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Robert Van Wormer. He predeceased her in 2012. Lori was co-owner and secretary of Vans Steam Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. She enjoyed going to thrift stores, fishing and riding her scooter.
Surviving are one son, Thomas Hammerbacher, Bay City; a grandson, Thomas Lawrence Hammerbacher, Jr.; her siblings, James (Angel) Beeker, Debra Hammerbacher, Julie Hammerbacher, Joni Hammerbacher, her brother-in-law, Thomas Melton; many nieces and nephews. Lori was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Melton.
Honoring Lori’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
