Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at New Hope Valley Assisted Living. Age 95 years. The daughter of the late Stanley & Leocadia aka Lillian (Przybyszewski) Sawicki, Lillian Wanda was born on July 28, 1927 in Bridgeport. She married the love of her life Mike R. Bator on October 22, 1949. He predeceased her on April 5, 2014. In 1943, at the age of 16, she went to work for Lufkin Rule. She worked there until two months before she had the twins. She became a full-time mom and raised her family until 1979 when she went back to work, outside of the home, at the Saginaw News until the ripe age of 78. She loved her Polish heritage, dancing polkas & obereks, crossword puzzles, bowling, gambling, and playing Euchre and “The Stupid Game” with the Krajkowski’s.

Surviving are four children, Michael (Tricia), Patrick (Carla), Gregory (Mary) and Kelly (Jason). She was blessed with many Bator grandchildren, Brian (Lindsay), Kristin (Drew) Hilbrandt, and Kevin; Maureen; Matthew (Tracy), Kathleen (Rodney) Phillips and Bridget (Michael) Beaton. Her great grandchildren include Brecken & Kaison Bator, Shaye & Samantha Hilbrandt; Dylan Bator, Maxwell & Elena Lillian Bator, and Abbie & Kylie Phillips.

She is predeceased by 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She is survived by her “twin -like” sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Krajkowski; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Lillian was also predeceased by two loving daughters in-law, Tricia Bator and Carla Bator.


Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church - St. Casimir Site, 2122 S. Jefferson St. Burial to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Family and friends will pray the rosary and share memories at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
