Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper Campus. Age 78 years. The daughter of the late Lawton and Ruby (Tessman) Jesse, Lila was born on October 14, 1942 in Clare, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Joseph Podojak Sr., on January 17, 1959. He predeceased her on December 6, 2009. Lila and Joe enjoyed many trips to the Upper Peninsula visiting Mackinaw and the Soo Locks. She was an avid gardener and will always be remembered for being an excellent cook. Lila’s most precious joy in life however was spending time with her family.
Surviving are five children; Lisa (Jesse) Chacon, Saginaw; Joseph (Amanda) Podojak, Bay City; Tina Rivera, Saginaw; Todd (Tammy) Podojak, Saginaw; Melissa (Richard) Gomez II, Saginaw; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Judy Jesse and Shirley Jesse. Lila was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Pete Rivera and her 16 brothers and sisters.
The family would like to acknowledge the loving and compassionate care given by Lila’s grandson Richard Gomez III. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mike Milnes for going above and beyond when needed.
Honoring Mrs. Podojak’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw County Humane Society or Undercover Angels Animal Rescue. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
