Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 90 years. Son of the late Clifford and Alice (Spencer) Thomas, Leonard was born May 7, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #439. Leonard married Joan L. Davis, his loving wife of 49 years, on March 22, 1952. She predeceased him on August 20, 2001. Leonard was the co-owner of Evans and Thomas Plumbing and Heating retiring in 1988. He was a member of Plumbers and Fitters Local #85, Pulaski Club and Moose Lodge #82. Leonard was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #439, UA Local 85, and V.F.W. Post #4093.
Surviving to cherish his memory are one daughter and three sons, Jeanne and Donald Williamson, Ormand Beach, Florida; Allan M. Thomas and a special friend Judy McGee, Bay City; Ronald J. and Veronica Thomas, Macomb, Michigan; Steven L. Thomas, Saginaw; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his brother, Clifford and Sally Thomas and a grandson, Dominick Mayberry.
Honoring Mr. Thomas’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Chaplain Randall Waibell will officiate. Burial of cremains will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Services conducted by American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Legion Post #439 or the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center.
