Leo Casarez

Beloved brother and uncle passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 in Saginaw, Michigan. The son of the late Ambrose and Toribia (Suarez) Casarez, Leo was born on November 15, 1930 in Sebewaing, Michigan. Leo married Rosie Lopez on November 13, 1971. His beloved bride predeceased him on November 14, 2013. Leo worked as an Engineer for Northrop Grumman and Honeywell Corporations. Following his retirement, Leo was a starter at Palatine Hills Golf Course for years and enjoyed the people and complimentary golf. He worked in the fitness center at the YMCA and made many, many friends there. He was there at 5 a.m. like clockwork, working out and then working his shift.
Surviving are three sisters, Connie Castanon, Saginaw; Josephine Espinoza, Saginaw; Margaret Gonzales, Saginaw; many nieces and nephews especially, Michael and Matthew Casarez and Sienna Casarez and Lincoln Cronkright; many dear friends, Mark and Jani Wink and their children, Melanie, Timothy and Kacy; Bob Hicks. Leo was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Casarez, Judy Jaime, Rose Guevara, Jesse, Frank and Michael Casarez.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd. Rev. Fr. Matthew Federico will officiate. Committal Prayers will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021in St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery in Palatine, Illinois. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Sisters of St. Clare, St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church or St. John Paul II Parish. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
