Obituary for Kelley Lynn Popielarz

Kelley Lynn Popielarz
Belleville, Michigan
Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, daughter, and sister left her earthly home to be with Jesus in her eternal home on Friday, November 4, 2022 after a brief illness. Kelley was a graduate of Carrollton High School and Eastern Michigan University, earning a bachelor’s degree in communications and creative writing. She was employed for the last 18 years at the University of Michigan, Institute of Sociological Research. Kelley had just started a new career with ADA Staff as the site manager in their Livonia office prior to her illness. She had a love of music, especially live music, it fed her soul. Kelley was always up for an adventure, appreciated art, an avid reader, and a lover of nature, animals, and all things vintage.
Kelley always lived her life fully aware of her surroundings, never missing an opportunity to appreciate the sun, the stars, and the moon. She died the same way she lived; with courage and grace and on her own terms.

Kelley’s greatest accomplishment in this world was raising a loving and compassionate son, Benjamin. She cherished that more than anything.

Kelley leaves many beautiful memories with her parents, Ed and Deb Popielarz, her “big little” brother, Tom Popielarz; and the absolute light of her life, her only child, Benjamin Keller.

Kelley’s loving “Knight in Shining Armor”, for these past 3 1/2 years, Charles Arnest, was faithfully by her side. She also leaves several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kelley was blessed with some very special life-long friends who loved her and supported her along the way; Adie, April, Courtney, Chris, Jodi, Erin, Brian, Jared and Greg. If Kelley loved you, you knew it. She was generous with her heart. Kelley also leaves her beloved feline companions, Ollie and Punky.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 469 Shattuck Rd. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate. Honoring Kelley’s wishes cremation will follow. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Vigil Service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Benny’s education fund.

In Kelley’s own words, “Do not cry because I died…Celebrate because I lived!”
