Loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Ascension St. Mary’s Medical Center. Age 62 years. The daughter of the late R. and Sally (Sawatzki) Smith, Kathy was born May 3, 1960 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Jerome Sledz, her loving husband of 37 years, on July 13, 1985. He survives her. For many years, Kathy was employed as a nurse and then Unit Secretary at Ascension St. Mary’s Medical Center Cath Lab. Kathy’s lasting legacy will forever be her loving and compassionate heart. She was always the first to help someone with words of advice and often put the needs of others before herself.
Surviving besides her husband Jerome are three children, Steven and Alaine Sledz, Katie Sledz, and Rachel and Mike Natzel; four granddaughters, Kaylin, Hannah, Alaina and Alice; a brother, Ken Smith; her “sister”, Wilma Shine.
Honoring Mrs. Sledz’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Kathy’s life will take place from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Moose Lodge #82, 2218 Midland Rd (at Weiss).
