Beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Ascension St. Mary’s Medical Center. Age 87 years. The daughter of the late James and Eleanor (Dangel) Foley, Kate was born on September 17, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Edward Allington on August 10, 1957. He predeceased her on March 23, 2009. On top of raising 10 children, Kate was very proud to earn her Master’s Degree in Special Education later in life. She spent many years teaching elementary education and catechism in the Saginaw area. Kate was a former member of Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption and St. Matthew Catholic Church. Kate was a longtime faithful member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church where she volunteered countless hours with funeral luncheons. She also volunteered at HealthSource Saginaw. Kate will long be remembered for always being “on the move” helping someone in need and for opening her home to all. She was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #4232 Ladies Auxiliary, St. John Paul II Rosary Altar Society, Saginaw League of Catholic Women and Senior Voyagers.


Surviving are two daughters and eight sons, Tamarra, Peter (Ellen), Joseph, Mark, Michael (Lynn), Jennifer (Robert) Hansen, Christopher, Gregory, Matthew (Laura), and Daniel; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchilren; her siblings, Sr. Joan Foley, O.P., Howard Foley, Cecilia (Tom) Beckrow and Colleen (Lee) Barker; her brother-in-law, William (Theresa) Allington. Kate was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Julie Allington; her sister, Rosemary Evans; her brothers, Thomas (Norma) Foley, Tim Foley and Michael Foley; her infant siblings, James, Gerard and Albert Foley; sisters-in-law, Sue Foley and Jean Allington; a brother-in-law, Jim Allington; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Teri Cocquyt.


Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd. Rev. Fr. Robert Gohm will officiate with interment in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Family and friends will pray the rosary at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Saginaw City Rescue Mission or Brian's House.
