Obituary for Judith Mary (Schramke) Nowaczyk

Judith Mary (Schramke) Nowaczyk
Carrollton Twp., Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones that cherished her, following a courageous battle with lung and bone cancer. Age 79 years. The daughter of the late William “Bill” and Florence (Champagne) Schramke, Judi was born on July 31, 1943 in Kinde, Michigan. Judi was a 1961 graduate of St. Mary Cathedral High School. She married the love of her life, Duane Nowaczyk, on February 27, 1965. He survives her. Judi was a homemaker for most of her life, but due to her love of books and genealogy she worked for the Public Libraries of Saginaw as a purchasing secretary. Judi’s hobbies included shopping “she would say we aren’t shopping for anything, it’s browsing for what we are going to need”, camping with her family, researching family heritage and genealogy and most of all her love for reading. Judi’s true love in life was her family. She lived and breathed ensuring everyone was taken care of. She would babysit her grandkids and great-grandchildren and did it because she didn’t want them being taken care of by strangers. It brought her joy to watch them grow and learn every day. She made sure to teach everyone the secrets and tricks that were often a “special trick or secret” between her and that child.

Surviving besides her husband Duane Nowaczyk are two daughters and one son, Janemarie (Matthew) Westphal, Matthew (Christy) Nowaczyk, Jennifer (Shawn Coutz) Okowit; her grandchildren, Amanda (Brandon) Milkowski, Jacob (Loren) Okowit, Jordan Williams(Matthew Bierlein) , Riley Coutz, Rachel Westphal, Jace (Hannah) Collins, Wayne Mooring (Jackson), Tyler Collins, Alyssa Collins (Dylan); her great-grandchildren, Amellia, Carsen & Anthony Milkowski, Nathen & Mavis Okowit & Bo Bierlein, Andrew Wood and David Alish; she was excited for the arrival of three additions to this list (Owen Collins, Joshua Okowit, & baby Bierlein); her sisters, Marcia Glaza, Ellen Jennings, Irene Yeska, Alice Larson, Francis Schramke; her brothers, Donald Schramke & William Schramke; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Judi was predeceased by her granddaughter, Rebecca Eileen Westphal and her great-granddaughter, Alexandria Heather Torrez; her siblings, Richard Schramke, Carol McCormick, Edwin Schramke and Jean Smithers.
