Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at the Great Lakes Rehab Center. Age 84 years. Son of the late Ally and Stella Awad, Joseph was born July 27, 1938 in Chesaning, Michigan. He married Sheila M. Fitch, his loving wife of 57 ½ years, on August 14, 1965. She survives him. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Joseph was owner and operator of J. and A. Sales retiring in 2020 in his earlier years his was also co-owners, with his brother, of The Coffee House in the city of Saginaw. He was obsessed with Golf and playing cards, enjoyed watching sports and was a loyal fan of MSU, the Lions and the Tigers and especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and clients.
Surviving besides his wife Sheila are two sons, Scott Awad and his husband Andrew Maglio, East Lansing; Joe Awad, Saginaw; four grandchildren, Beau, George, Jacob and Jamie Smith; several great-grandchildren; his brother, Abe Awad, Auburn; several nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Smith; sisters Mary Zedaker and Bernice Sy and his brother Sam Awad.
Funeral Service will take place 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Paul Biber will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:30 until time of Service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Great Lakes Rehab Center.
