Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. Age 98 years. The son of the late Frank and Hedwig (Wurm) Clous, Joe was born on April 7, 1924 in Grand Traverse County, Michigan. He married Mary Grace Murphy on November 9, 1946. She predeceased him April 23, 1995. Joe then married Mary Ruth Seman on February 3, 1996. She predeceased him December 16, 1996. He was employed at Draper Chevrolet for 42 years retiring in 1989 as parts manager. He was an active member of Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption where he served as an usher, Eucharistic Minister and funeral dinner coordinator. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #4232. Joe enjoyed playing Euchre and Poker. Most of all, he loved time spent with his family.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Fred (Pam) Clous, Mary DeGroat (Harold Sawatzki), Randall Clous, Donna (Russell) Dowis; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) McMahon, Bridget (John) Wilson, Scott Bethune and Nichole (Frank Luera) Clous; 12 great-grandchildren; several step-children; two sisters and one brother, Teresa Bott, Mary Lyon and Francis Clous; many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, Gerard, Franklin and Carol Ann Clous, and by two sisters and 10 brothers, Marcella Beuth, Lawrence, Julius, Victor, Clarence, Edmund, Ralph, August, Leonard, Raymond and Alfred Clous and Dorothy Stein.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. July 23, 2022 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Street in Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Thai Nguyen will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Knights of Columbus Council #4232 will pray the rosary at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption or wishes of the family.
