Obituary for John "Russ" Doyle

John “Russ” Doyle,



Saginaw, Michigan.



Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper Campus. Age 91 years. Son of the late Hubert and Eleanor (Dennings) Doyle John was born October 17, 1929 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 5th R.C.T and attended many reunions in Branson, Missouri. Russ married Betty Z. Gehrcke, his loving wife of 70 years, on February 3, 1951. She survives him. Russ was co-owner of A. C. Gehrcke and Sons. He was a member of West Michigan United Methodist Church now New Heart United Methodist Church. Russ was a Christian man, who placed God and his family first, always willing to help anyone in need. He was a member of Saginaw Commission on Aging’s meals on wheels and of Saginaw Board of Canvassers and also chaired the committee. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, making gifts from wood with his talented hands and playing Blooper Ball in his younger years. He also enjoyed feeding all the animals in the neighborhood.



Surviving besides his wife Betty are two sons and two daughters, John (Marcia) Doyle Jr., Saginaw; Cindy (Kerry) Kuznicki, Saginaw; Steven (Ann) Doyle, West Branch, Debbie (Alan) Rood, Saginaw; 11 grandchildren, John Doyle III, Justin (Stephanie) Doyle, Amy Doyle, Brad (Candace) Kuznicki, Bryan Kuznicki, Katie (Aaron) Onweller, Michael Doyle, Andrew (Kristina) Doyle, Jeramy (Kayleigh) Rood, Jason Soltis and Alec Rood; and many great-grandchildren.



Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday February 22, 2021 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Rob Richards will officiate. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Services will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m.to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
