Obituary for Joan Rood
Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home. Age 85 years. The daughter of the late Frederick William and Evelyn (Jackson) Langfield, Joan was born June 19, 1935 in Doncaster, England. She married Franklin W. Rood on January 25, 1958. He predeceased her February 10, 1997. Joan enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three daughters, Denise and Thomas Moody, Kentwood; Linda Petrowski, Saginaw; Nancy and Stephen Steigmeyer, Fort Wayne, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Janel Rood, Spokane Valley, Washington; five grandchildren, Karla Rood, Daniel Petrowski, Catherine Petrowski, Christopher Petrowski, Kevin (Dominique) Moody; a great-granddaughter, Stella Moody; one brother and one sister, John Langfield and Elizabeth Glover; several nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Chester. Joan was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Rood, a son-in-law, James Petrowski, three brothers and two sisters, William, Donald and David, Dorothy and Grace.
Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate with burial in Pinegrove Albee Twp. Cemetery East. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
