“Our Peace Angel” was welcomed by her Pat into God’s Eternal Peace on May 22, 2023. Age 83 years. The daughter of the late Donovan and Veronica (Black) McKenna, Joan was born June 9, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Patrick D. McCoy on January 24, 1959 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. He predeceased her September 30, 2017. Joan was a graduate of SS. Peter & Paul High School in 1957, and later became a paralegal. She offered Peace and Justice from their own home. She loved to garden and pursued fitness especially walking.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Sean and Beth McCoy, Shannon and Kim McCoy, Erin (McCoy) and Steven Hill, Molly (McCoy) and Steve Thibert, Ryan and Jen McCoy; grandchildren, Andrew (Melody) McCoy, Conor (Madeline) McCoy, Ryan ( Chelsea) McCoy, Ashley Kinde, Madeline Dunn, Olivia Dunn, Charles Dunn, Steven Thibert, Brittany Thibert, Malcolm Hill, Veronica Hill and Jack McCoy; great-granddaughters, Declyn, Delaney and Josie McCoy and Dalaney, Kennedy and Rowdie Thibert; a sister, Christine and Earl Lisee; a brother-in-law, Norm Miller; several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by one sister Mary Alice Miller and a brother, Gerald Ramsden. Our family would like to give our heartfelt “Thank You” for the extraordinary ladies from Fee’s Private in Home Care, Cardinal Hospice and the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, Saginaw.
Honoring Mrs. McCoy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Ms. Carmen Mora will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Cardinal Hospice.
