Obituary for Jeanette M. Sullivan

Saginaw, Michigan.

Much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, friend, and Child of God passed away Friday. March 25, 2022 after brave struggles with various health issues. Age 87 years. Daughter of the late Alexander and Joan (Schultz) LaDrigue, Jeanette was born December 6, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was an honor student and graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School. She attended St. Mary’s Cathedral and Holy Family Catholic Church during her adult life. Jeanette took great pride in assisting with cleaning and decorating of the church altar, counting monetary collections and as a Eucharistic Minister. She married Edward Cornelius Sullivan on April 25, 1955. He predeceased her early in their marriage of cancer, and she raised their children alone. During their upbringing, she included pet dogs as part of the family. Throughout her lifetime, she held various jobs including Western Auto accountant, Kirby Vacuum accountant, home and office cleaning jobs, Child Care, and Horizons Conference Center / Temple Theater waitress. She volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and church day care assistance. Jeanette enjoyed the flowers in her yard. She fed the birds, squirrels and stray cats. She was blessed with a “green thumb”. Her home was adorned with thriving live plants. Jeanette played Yahtzee, card games, her favorite Scrabble and she enjoyed the challenges of crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a loyal reader of a variety of magazines and the Bible. She listened to various types’ music throughout her 87 years of life, taking a special interest in Bret Michaels in her golden years after she attended a live concert! She loved to dance.

Surviving to cherish her memory and share her stories are her children, Lori (Carl) Stein, Julie Wright, Michelle “Shelly” Larson, Karen Wager, Christopher Sullivan; along with her sister, Mary Ann Boyd ; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many relatives, neighbors and friends, especially her special friend, Karen Sprague. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Alex (1974), and Joan (2014); her husband, Edward Sullivan (1964); her sister, Pauline Walderzak; a brother-in-law, Chuck Walderzak; nieces, Cathy Walderzak and Marci Walderzak-Graham-Haven; brother-in-law, Norval Boyd; son-in-law, Mike Wright; and her special friend, Samuel "Bob" Fatowe (1984).

Funeral Service will take place 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Duane Wachowiak will officiate. A private burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of Service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the family.

Jeanette often spoke of offering her pain for the better/healing of others. “Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer…I will give you the crown of life.” Revelations 2:10
