James R. Ivon,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, February 26, 2021. Age 89 years. Son of the late Robert and Genevieve (Gregorka) Ivon, James was born June 21, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of the Marine Corps League. He married Mary Sultes, his loving wife of 63 years, on September 7, 1957. She survives him. James was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4232. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and especially spending time with his family.
Surviving besides his wife Mary are one daughter and three sons, Celeste Ivon, Mark and Julie Ivon, Craig and Jeanette Ivon, James Ivon; a son-in-law, Steven Krajewski; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his daughter, Marie Krajewski , his sister, Roberta Ivon and his brother, Robert Ivon.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church , 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #439 and the U. S. Marines. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed.
