Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare – Cooper Campus. Age 99 years. The daughter of the late Stanley and Stella (Makinowiz) Sawicki, Irene was born on August 6, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Alexander Dudek on August 29, 1942. He predeceased her on March 6, 1971. Irene was employed as a Telephone Operator for St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Casimir Church, Pulaski Club Ladies Auxiliary and was an active member of the Washington Club. She loved to play Bingo, polka dancing, traveling, going to the casino and playing cards with her family.

Surviving are three daughters and two sons, Carol Ann (William) Virgin, Freeland; Donna (Terry) Murlick, Reese; Kathleen Dudek, Chesaning; Joseph Dudek, Birch Run; Donald Dudek, Saginaw; Janice Frelitz who was like a daughter to Irene; her grandchildren, Leland (Mary) Dudek, David (Amanda) Dudek, Jonathan Dudek, Jennifer (Steve) Burk, Kelly (Aaron) Gerega, Paige (Daryl) Henderson, Sean Virgin, Nicole Virgin; her great-grandchildren, Kenley Burk, Kaden Burk, Avery Dudek and Autumn Dudek; her siblings, Elizabeth Krajkowski and Lillian Bator. Irene was preceded in death by her son Robert Dudek; her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Dudek and by her siblings, Angeline Cutliff, Stanley Sawicki, Lucy Jacoby, Henry Danilowicz, Raymond Sawicki and Christopher Sawicki.

Honoring the wishes of Mrs. Dudek, cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Parish – St. Casimir Catholic Church, 2122 S. Jefferson Ave. Rev. Fr. Gerry Pehler, OFM Cap. Will officiate. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private inurnment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
