Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Ascension St. Mary’s Medical Center. Age 98 years. The daughter of the late William and Hilda (Patow) Bauer, Helen was born on September 26, 1924 in Zilwaukee, Michigan. She married Nelson Roy Sharpe on April 24, 1948. He predeceased her on November 18, 2004. Helen was a lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Zilwaukee. In her younger years, Helen was a caregiver for her parents and her in-laws. She was a very independent woman and was very proud to still be doing her own lawn work until the age of 94. Helen will long be remembered for her great apple pies and Christmas cookies. She loved holidays, playing euchre and especially spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii and wintering in Florida with her husband, Nelson.

Surviving are one daughter and one son, Sandra (Keith) Lamrouex, Ovid; Nelson (Marie) Sharpe Jr., Carrollton; six grandchildren, Matthew (Carrie) Lamrouex, Melissa (Al) White, Melanie (Tim Lerma) Sharpe, Mario (Ruth) Hernandez, Mary Hernandez and David (Lisa) Hernandez; her great-grandchildren, Miranda, Matthew, Mitchell, Morgan, Brendon, Margaret, Isabella, Gabriel, Olivia, Tavia, Tiffany, Alyssa, Mariah, Kayla, Adam, Lewis, Madaline; a great-great-grandson, Henry; two sisters, Natalie Lamrouex and Carolyn Lamb; many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Maureen; her siblings, Betty Conrad, William Bauer, Norma Stoltow, Margie Zuzula, Donna Schnell, Charlotte Moeller, Sally Charbonneau, Jack Bauer, Janet Tyson, James Bauer and Dick Bauer.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 318 S. Franklin Street, Zilwaukee. Rev. Scott A. Muske will officiate with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Saginaw Wesleyan Church or American Cancer Society.
