Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went to be with Our Lord Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Age 86 years. Daughter of the late Floyd and Alta (Shragee) Griffor, Helen was born October 17, 1934 in Zilwaukee. She was married to George Lewis Jr., her loving husband of 68 years on November 3, 1952. He survives her. Helen was a beautician for 15years at Jarvis Beauty Salon which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Helen loved to travel, was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.
Surviving besides her husband George are two daughters and one son, Wendy and Randy Guiher, Grand Rapids; Steven Lewis, College Station, Pennsylvania; Angela McKay, Maggie Valley, North Carolina; a granddaughter, Tiffany Ireland and Michael Ross, Grand Rapids; two great-grandchildren, Collin Justice, Saginaw; Amelia Justice, Grand Rapids; several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at St. John Lutheran Church, 4705 Brockway Rd., Saginaw. Pastor Andy Retberg will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Cancer Society or St. John Lutheran Church.
