Obituary for Gwendolyn Ahlrich

Gwendolyn Ahlrich
Freeland, Michigan

Most loved and adored Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on Saturday morning, February 27, 2021. Gwen was born on July 12, 1937 to Rudolph and Eleanor Kraatz of Saginaw, Michigan and graduated high school in 1955 from St. Mary's. She married James L. Ahlrich on July 27, 1957.

She is predeceased by her Husband James L. Ahlrich; Parents, Rudolph and Eleanor Kraatz; In-Laws Theodore Ahlrich; Edwin and Irma Nuffer; Sister-in-Law Sandra Goold; Brother-in-Law Jim Harvey; Niece Kathi Platko; Special Friends Albert W. Beaudin, Dave & Darlene Meyer, Bob Flory, Richard Hensel and numerous other relatives and friends.

She worked 15 years at the Credit Bureau of Saginaw and retired from St. Lukes (Covenant) after nearly 29 years of service (starting as a Ward Clerk in the Emergency Department and as a Registration Associate in Outpatient Registration).

She leaves her Best Friend and only Sister, Dee Harvey; four Daughters, Gwen (& Ken) Bush, Suzie Campbell, Mary (& Brad) Farnham and
Elizabeth (& Richard) VanAkker; three Grandchildren, Wendy (& Alex) Staudacher, Zachary Farnham & Kayli Mead, and Mitchell Campbell; Nieces and Nephews, Sue Harvey, Michael & Sharon Harvey and Julie Kaufman; Adopted Nieces Tracy and Laurie and Special Family Friend Kathy Flory.

She was a devout Catholic never missing Saturday Mass, enjoyed visiting with her family and friends, going on gambling trips to Soaring Eagle and Up North, visiting the Mackinac Bridge and the Cross in the Woods at Indian River. She loved having pets and watching wildlife in her own backyard.

She will be dearly missed by all as she cared for everyone's needs, either by phone or personally, on their birthdays, holidays, special occasions, etc.
Mom never missed a beat.

According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Heartland Hospice, the Diocese of Lansing or the Humane Society of Saginaw County.

Special thanks to the caregivers from Heartland Hospice: Nicole RN and Nurse's Aide Kim, who made her smile and laugh.
