Esther B. Edwards

Loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at her home. Age 102. Daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Moon) Miller, Esther was born April 20, 1920 in Lowell, Michigan. She served her country proudly as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the Bronze Star for her service. She was also a head nurse in orthopedics at St. Luke’s Hospital retiring in 1985. Esther was married to Charles Edwards on March 2, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan. He predeceased her September 26, 2013. Esther was a past member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, a faithful member of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church and a longtime member of the YMCA and the “Y Girls”. Esther loved gardening, camping with her family and spending time with many relatives in the Pigeon Forge Area.
Surviving to cherish her memory are five daughters and five sons, Anne Keyser, Michael (Jennifer) Edwards, Richard (Patty) Edwards, Mary (Roger) Hulett, Karen (Tony) Alexander, Charles (Rosemary) Edwards, Janet (James) Keeler, Martha (Fred) Buxman, John (Jeri) Edwards, Stephen Edwards; 39 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Katy Nye; many nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her son, Gerard; a son-in-law, Butch Keyser; six sisters, Hazel, Della, Florence, Marion, Teresa, and Gladys and three brothers, Bill, Harold and Walter.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Raj Bandaru will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 6:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Christ the Good Shepherd Parish or the Macular Degeneration Association.
