Obituary for Emma Jean Seman

Emma Jean Seman,
Saginaw, Michigan.

Loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 82 years. Daughter of the late Herman and Rita (Biskner) Ruger, Emma Jean was born October 5, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. She attended St. Rita Grade School and St. Joseph High School under the guidance of the Grand Rapids Dominican Sisters. She was married to James R. Seman, her loving husband of 57 years, on August 21, 1965. He survives her. Jean retired from the Diocese of Saginaw on January 2, 2002 with 27 ½ years of service. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church and served as Eucharistic Minister, reader, presiding minister for funeral liturgies and prayer services, helped in the Good Shepherd program religious education for number of years, served as president of the former altar society, and served on various committees. She was a member of League of Catholic Women, served on the board of the AAI/PASC (Pregnancy Assistance). Jean was a member of the John W. and Rose Watson Foundation Board from 1982 to 2016, and was responsible for the secretarial work. Jean was an active member and past president of the Serra Club. She was chairperson of the Emmaus House Board.

Surviving besides her husband James are two daughters and two sons, Anne M. Prenzler and her children, Alexander and Elizabeth (Ellie); James Seman II; Paul E. (Lisa) Seman and their daughters, Abigail, Lauren , and Alaina; Mary E. (Martin) Bethune; a brother, William L. (Ruth) Ruger; a sister, Elizabeth Crandall; a special niece and Goddaughter, Carolyn (Jim) Gosen; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Janet Ruger on August 29, 2012.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw, Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Steven M. Gavit will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish, or the Emmaus House.
