Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Friday, September 2, 2022 at her home with her children by her side. Age 76 years. The daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Snyder) Skillings, Emily was born on September 11, 1945 in Troy, Ohio. She graduated from Tippecanoe High School Class of 1963. Emily was employed for the University of Michigan Flint Television Station WFUM until her retirement. She then went on to be a nanny for the Dupuis family in her retirement years. Emily enjoyed gardening, canning and taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed summer with her grandchildren at Brown City Missionary Camp. Emily was always ready for an ice cream cone (or bowl). Ice cream was the most important part of the meal she said. She was extremely strong in her faith. She enjoyed Christian Music and listening to weekly sermons.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Michelle (Al) McCool-Neff, Scott McCool and Jason McCool; affectionately known as “nana” to Ethan McCool, Lexi Eastman, Leland Eastman and Izzy McCool; her sisters, Margaret (Fermin) Bocanegra and Virginia (Ray) Hannah; her sister-in-law, Karen Skillings; many nieces and nephews. Emily was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emily Neff-Eastman; her siblings, Linda Matthews and Ralph Skillings.
Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Dave Boillat will officiate. Honoring Emily’s wishes cremation will follow. Private inurment will take place in Kingston Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Brown City Missionary Camp.
