Beloved wife, sister and aunt passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May18th 2021 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. Age 71 years. The daughter of the late Samuel Thomas and Lydia Margaret (Collins) Finn, Betty was born on December 19, 1949 in Bay City, Michigan. Betty graduated from Bay City St Joseph High School in 1968, she went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Siena Heights College. Betty retired from Covenant Healthcare (St Luke’s Hospital) in July of 2012 after 42 years of service. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Traverse City. Betty married her high school sweetheart, Bob Callaghan, on August 14, 1971. He survives her. They had several residences in Saginaw, Michigan before moving to Betty’s dream home in Traverse City, Michigan in 2018. Betty enjoyed cooking, entertaining, her dogs, making new friends and taking care of everyone.
Surviving besides her husband Bob are her sister, Barbara J. Finn and nephew, godson Samuel T. Finn; her mother-in-law, JoAnn Callaghan; brothers-in-law, David (Carol), Tom (Dawn), Bill (Diane), Steven (Carie), Ed (MaryJo), John (Chris) Callaghan; sister-in-law, Peggy (Tim) Trepkowski; many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by father-in-law, Thomas B. Callaghan and sister-in-law, Barbara Callaghan.
Honoring Mrs. Callaghan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd. Rev. Fr. Dale Orlik will officiate. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Heart Society or your local Humane Society.
