Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home in Sun City West, Arizona. Age 86 years. Duane was born November 1, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan. He married Donna (Hein) Coyer on June 10, 1980 who predeceased him. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear Plant #1 for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of U.A. W. Local #699. Duane was always proud to say “He was retired longer than he worked”. He made friends with whomever he met. Duane enjoyed bowling and square dancing.


Duane is survived by his children, Craig and Deborah Coyer, Pinconning, Michigan; Anthony and Mary Coyer, Bentley, Michigan; Robert and Heidi Coyer, Antioch, Tennessee; Jack and Lisa Hein, Sun City West, Arizona; Curtis and Roberta Hein, Tucson, Arizona; Mike and Regina Hein, Phoenix, Arizona; Penny Mullins, Phoenix, Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nina Swaton and Evelyn O’Farrell. Duane was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Coyer, a grandson, SSG. Ryan F. Coyer, Duane’s mother, Irene Coyer, brothers and sisters, Henry Coyer, Donnie Collins, Dick Coyer, Eddie Batzer, Elaine Barnellay and Eunice Fylling.


Honoring Duane’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned.
