Obituary for Donna June Carpenter
Donna June Carpenter,
Saginaw, Michigan.
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully, Tuesday July 19, 2022 at the Toni and Trish House in Auburn, Michigan. Age 94 years. Daughter of the late Louis and Charlotte (Ranke) Gohsman, Donna was born June 8, 1928 in Vassar, Michigan. Donna was a 1946 graduate of Vassar High School then moved to Saginaw where she attended West Side Beauty Academy. She was married to Clifford “Skip” Carpenter on December 3, 1949. Skip and Donna owned and operated the Service Station at the corner of Bay and Shattuck for over 30 years. Donna loved to travel, play shuttle board, go to the casino and play cards. She was a longtime member of V.F.W. Post #1859 and Eagles Club Nest #3201 in Houghton Lake where they have a cottage.
Surviving are her son, Mark and Blenda Carpenter, Saginaw; two granddaughters, Amy and Aaron Sherk, Walloon Lake; Heather Carpenter and her fiancé Matt Gillis, Saginaw; two great-grandchildren, Brayden and Sunny; and several nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Skip, in 2008 after 59 years of marriage; her son Skippy in 1968; two sisters, Ruth Dietzel and Loraine McMahon; and her brother, Marvin Gohsman.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Ginger Taylor and everyone who has sent cards and made phone calls to Donna over the years, as well as the staff at Toni and Trish House and Covenant V.N.A. Hospice.
Honoring Mrs. Carpenter’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place 12:00 noon Friday, July 22, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Julius Buelow will officiate. Private burial of cremains will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at the funeral home, where the family will be present on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Toni and Trish House or charity of your choice.
