It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dolores Lorraine Zummer, who passed away on February 20th, 2022 at the age of 96. Our much beloved mother and grandmother is cherished and will be missed by all. Dee was born on April 2nd, 1925, in Saginaw, Michigan, and married Hilary Bernard Zummer (January 23, 1915) in 1952. He passed away in 2009. They were the love of each other’s lives, and their four children, Thomas Charles Zummer and Leslie Ann Thornton (New York City), Linda Anne Zummer and Nelson McMath (Ann Arbor/Au Gres, MI), James Raymond Zummer and Jane Ann [Beyersdorf] Zummer (Saginaw, MI) and Robert Keith Zummer and Patty [Shepherd] Zummer (Grass Lake, MI), survive them. She loved her grandchildren, Caylie, Alex, Christian, Andrew, Georgia, and Natalie and her extended family from the Middle Grounds. Dolores was also preceded in death by her sister Arcadia [Dyczewski] Fleming and her brother Theodore ‘Ted’ Dyczewski.
From early on, Dolores was a gifted artist, a creative painter of traditional themes who was an inspiration to anyone who knew her. She had a marvelous and unexpected sense of humor, and her congeniality and generosity were without parallel. She will be deeply missed as her memory lives on.
There will be a small private viewing for family and friends on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. Saginaw, Michigan. A private burial of Dolores will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, also the resting place of her beloved husband, Hilary. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to their favorite charities.
