Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on peacefully Sunday, March 7, 2021 at home surround by her family. Age 89 years. The daughter of the late Harvey and Clara (Goltz) Schmidt, Della was born on June 16, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Charles A. Cole on August 27, 1949. He predeceased her on December 13, 2013. She was employed at Spatz’s Bakery for many years. Della was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
Surviving are one son and two daughters, Michael (Carol) Cole, Jeanette Cole and Sandra (Brent) Waldie; her grandchildren, Amy Cole, Melissa (Steve) Beyer, Mary (Tony) McLaughin, Erin Dailey, Garret (fiancée Alyssa McCarty) Waldie, her great-grandchildren, Cole, Porter Tyler, Hunter, Madison, Carter, Lauryn, Alexis, Ayden, Evelyn and Genevieve. Della was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Stark.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, the limitations of number gathered, mask wearing and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to The Care Team Hospice or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
